Objectives

The subject is of technical nature. It provides students with the main tools of work-related communication; however, it involves topics related to general studies. The aim is to develop all skills, but the main focus is on verbal/oral communication.

  1. Students’ vocabulary will expand in the fields of professions and tasks of the building industry, and shapes and materials.

  1. Students are able to speak about their studies, professional interests, future plans, and their tasks as civil engineers, and general topics connected to construction, building, and cities.
  2. They can solve situations involving problems connected to workplace debates, conflicts, and joint planning.
  3. They understand essential texts and videos concerning related to civil engineering.

Teaching methodology

In the learning process, a series of pair and group work is implemented to enhance students’ speaking time. Students are continuously working on widening their technical vocabulary.

Performance assessment methods

On the course, according to the general, basic principles of language learning, assessment is done continually and involves submitting elective tasks. Students solve and submit various short pieces of work: oral and written communication exercises, presentations, assignments. Assessment is based on the above-listed tasks.
