Validity of the Subject Description

Objectives

The course unit aims to introduce engineering students with the interconnected systems of environ-ment/environmental resources and economy, the theory and practice of sustainable development, its opportuni-ties and domains, the European framework of environmental regulations and its domestic implications..

Academic results

Knowledge
  1. The student understands the role and importance of environmental and natural resources, the interrela-tions of the economy and the environment, and their current conflicts, and their motivators.
  2. The student comprehends the strategy of sustainable development, its levels and dimensions and their complexity.
  3. The student is aware of the theoretical approaches and practical mechanisms of environmental-economic regulatory tools, and the efficiency criteria of their use.
  4. The student understands the sustainability challenges encountered by economic agents.
