Objectives
The course unit aims to introduce engineering students with the interconnected systems of environ-ment/environmental resources and economy, the theory and practice of sustainable development, its opportuni-ties and domains, the European framework of environmental regulations and its domestic implications..
Academic results
Knowledge
- The student understands the role and importance of environmental and natural resources, the interrela-tions of the economy and the environment, and their current conflicts, and their motivators.
- The student comprehends the strategy of sustainable development, its levels and dimensions and their complexity.
- The student is aware of the theoretical approaches and practical mechanisms of environmental-economic regulatory tools, and the efficiency criteria of their use.
- The student understands the sustainability challenges encountered by economic agents.
