Objectives

The studentswill learn about the mains characteristics and trends of the Hungarian labour market. They will gain insight into the demographic and economic changes that determine labour market processes and the educational trends that influence supply. They will know the sources and ways of monitoring changes in the domestic labour market to assist career guidance activities. They will gain knowledge of the structure of the overall education and qualification system in the country and the types of programmes available, including admission requirements, trends, characteristics of dual training and career tracking systems for graduates.

Knowledge
  1. Understands the main characteristics and trends of the Hungarian labour market and knows the current indicators of employment, unemployment and labour shortages, as well as their changes in recent years.
  2. Recognises the impact of demographic and economic factors (e.g. demographic decline, ageing, economic growth or stagnation) on the labour market and understands how these affect the working age population and labour supply.
  3. Knows the structure of the national education and qualification system, the different types of programmes, and the admission and tracking systems.
Skills
  1. Is abile to collect and interpret current labour market data from different sources (e.g. KSH, EUROSTAT) and use them in career guidance.
  2. Analyses demographic, economic and educational trends determining the domestic labour market processes and supports students' career choice decisions based on these.
  3. Critically evaluates and compares the advantages, requirements and labour market relevance of different educational programmes, levels of education and qualifications, helping students to make informed career choices.
Attitude
  1. Is open to and interested in the ever-changing trends in the labour market, new occupations, technological and social transformations, and communicates this approach to students.
  2. Is committed to providing credible, data-driven career guidance and strives to incorporate the latest labour market information into their work.

Topics covered during the term

In order to achieve the learning outcomes set out in 2.2, the subject consists of the following thematic blocks. These will normally be 1 hour, but the proportion may vary from semester to semester depending on the composition of the students and the nature of the problems they propose to address.
