Objectives

The aim of the subject is to point out that an organization's activities can and should be managed through a system of processes and their relationships, in fact this is the "process-oriented approach". This type of approach can be applied to all processes, to the management functions as a whole, that is to the PDCA cycle. The aim of the course is for students to understand and be able to apply at a skill level in a business organization how to facilitate the integration of sustainability requirements into management functions.

Knowledge
  1. He/She is familiar with the company's operating procedures, the motivational tools related to the management function, the organizational methods, the corporate challenges posed by ESG requirements, and the relevant legal requirements.
  2. He/She is able to think in systems, his activities are guided by the systems approach and the application of the logic of the PDCA cycle.
Skills
  1. They are able to apply the acquired general and specific management, natural and social science principles, rules, relationships and procedures to solve problems arising in the field of sustainability.
  2. Able to define the criteria for a strategy tailored to the company.

  1. Embraces the professional and moral values related to the field of sustainability and environmental protection.
  2. Strives to plan and carry out tasks independently or in a work team at a high professional level.
  3. Strives to carry out his work in a complex approach based on a systems and process-oriented way of thinking.
Independence and responsibility
  1. Takes a proactive role in solving sustainability problems, reveals shortcomings in the methods used, risks in the processes, and initiates measures to reduce them.
  2. In their decisions, takes into account the fundamental requirements of occupational health and safety, technical, economic and legal regulations, and sustainability.

Teaching methodology

The course presents applicable methods during lectures, but with the help of examples and case studies for each topic: evaluating, for example, the presentation of ESG requirements for business organizations affected by the regulation.

Lecture topics
1. A model of organisational relationships. The management environment of a business organisation (company, institution, household) (role and responsibility of the operating organisation in achieving sustainability goals). The supply chain (value chain).
2. Types of management systems, understanding of integrated system, understanding their role in achieving sustainability goals.
3. Measurability of the achievement of the objectives (standardisation background).
4. ESG requirements, CVIII trv. of 2023 (ESG trv.). Promoting sustainable financing and unified corporate responsibility in Hungary.
