Objectives

The course is aimed to prepare students for intermediate (B2-level) language exams. During the course the students improve their language competence, but the main purpose is to develop the strategies required for the exams. The course focuses on oral competencies to prepare students whose language proficiency is already close to the level of their chosen exam for A or C intermediate language exams

Academic results

Knowledge
  1. • The students are familiar with the typical topics and sections of the relevant exams.
  2. • They are able to understand the instructions given for the various types of tasks.
  3. • They are able to use the strategies required for the exams.
  4. • They are familiar with the assessment criteria used for the various sections.
Skills
  1. • The students are able to communicate in detail, relatively continuously in the language exam tasks based on the standard topics of the oral part of the exam: they are able to express their opinions, talk about a topic ex-tensively and participate in conversations during the various tasks of the language exam.
  2. • They are able to complete tasks which assess the comprehension of texts during the listening part of the lan-guage exam. They are able to analyse the information heard during the listening comprehension test, as well as link and pair them with the relevant pieces of information or select them from multiple choices.
Attitude
  1. • The students strive to cooperate and complete the tasks in a precise manner.
Independence and responsibility
  1. • They have the necessary strategies for developing their language competence independently and take re-sponsibility for improving their language proficiency.

Teaching methodology

The course focuses on establishing the strategies required for the exams, therefore we complete a lot of practice tests during the lessons and as homework. We use a lot of cooperation techniques to improve speaking skills

General Rules

Teljesítési követelmény: órákon való aktív részvétel (megengedett hiányzás 30%), valamint a félév során kiadott feladatok és/vagy dolgozatok teljesítése.
