Objectives

The course is aimed to help students use their B1-level language competence confidently: giving them an opportunity to fill in gaps and/or refresh their existing knowledge. We revise and systematise the grammatical structures required for B1-level communication, aim to develop language skills in a balanced way, while also taking the needs of the students into consideration.

Academic results

Knowledge
  1. • The students already have the knowledge of the language and its structural elements, which are necessary for B1-level communication,
  2. • they know the typical linguistic tools and phrases, required for communicating with members of the target culture.
Skills
  1. • They understand the key pieces of information of texts with general topics (descriptions, reports, interviews, conversations),
  2. • they are able to have short conversations in everyday situations,
  3. • they are able to express their feelings and opinions on events they are interested in,
  4. • they can talk fluently on topics of their interests, their own experiences and plans,
  5. • they are able to contact people in a native or target language setting, to maintain (social) relations verbally and in writing, primarily with their peers (e.g. respond to invitations, organise mettings).
Attitude
  1. • The students are open for contact with members of the target-language culture,
  2. • they are interested in the characteristics of the target-language culture that differ from those of Hungary (hol-idays, meals, everyday customs),
  3. • they are keen to fill in the gaps in their language competence.
Independence and responsibility
  1. • The students are aware of their strengths and weaknesses,
  2. • they also maintain and improve their language competence independently.

Teaching methodology

Alternating cooperation techniques, teamwork, working in pairs or independently, in writing or verbally, using IT tools and techniques, project tasks.

  • A hallgatók szükségleteihez igazodó B1 szintű anyagok. - B1-level materials adjusted to the needs of the students.

General Rules

Teljesítési követelmény: órákon való aktív részvétel (megengedett hiányzás 30%), valamint a félév során kiadott fel-adatok és/vagy dolgozatok teljesítése.

Bemutatkozás, család, közvetlen környezet bemutatása, egyetemi tanulmányok. A célnyelvi kultúra néhány aspektu-sa (pl. mindennapi szokások). Emberi kapcsolatok, társasági események. Bevezetés a munka világába, álláshirdeté-sek, egyszerű hivatalos levelek.
