Objectives

This course is designed to support the teaching of translation techniques in the areas of theory, methodology and descriptive grammar as well as to provide a systematic overview of grammatical competence in Hungarian and foreign languages and from the perspective of parallel language functions as well. It also aims to study language tools in Hungarian and foreign languages used to express a specific meaning in a specific context at the level of grammar, vocabulary, text linguistics, to introduce some types of conversion operations and to have students practise these operations to improve their translation competence.

Knowledge
  1. • Students understand the similarities and the differences in the system of the two languages,
  2. • they have advanced grammatical competence (CFER level C1) in the source and target languages.
  3. • They are familiar with the terminology describing basic grammar concepts.
Skills
  1. • They are able to effectively address translation challenges arising from the similarities and the differences of the two languages,
  2. • they use their grammar competence learned in the semester,
  3. • they recognise the necessity of grammar conversion operations in the source text,
  4. • they consciously use the grammar conversion operations in their translation.
Attitude
  1. • They embrace the similarities and differences between languages.
Independence and responsibility
  1. • Students independently complete and control their work and are responsible for their own progress.

Teaching methodology

Teamwork and independent work, occasionally pairwork.

  • Written materials, exercise sheets, online exercises, videos and texts available online to support the processing of themes.

A félév végi aláírás megszerzésének feltétele a házi feladatok elkészítése. A félév írásbeli vizsgával zárul. A vizsga egy nyelvtani tesztből áll (feleletválasztós feladatok, kiegészítés, megfeleltetés, átalakítások, rövidebb fordítások).

A félév végi aláírás megszerzésének feltétele a házi feladatok elkészítése. A félév írásbeli vizsgával zárul. A vizsga egy nyelvtani tesztből áll (feleletválasztós feladatok, kiegészítés, megfeleltetés, átalakítások, rövidebb fordítások).
