Objectives
The aim of the course is to present the nature and dynamics of contemporary urban and environmental process-es from a Hungarian and international perspective through a series of case studies, introducing students to the sociological concepts, methods, and main issues related to the subject, with special emphasis on practice-oriented thinking and problem solving.
Learning outcomes
Knowledge
- the basic concepts and theories of urban sociology and environmental sociology;
- the background of the social and environmental processes;
- the relevant sociological topics and case studies;
- attempts to manage social and environmental problems.
Ability
- understand and process literature on the topic;
- to formulate a professional opinion;
- developing recommendations and action plans on sociological issues.

- actively participates in lecture sessions;
- gain knowledge and information;
- approaches the topics in a practice-oriented way.
Autonomy and responsibility
- are open to accept reliable critical remarks;
- are open to formulate questions and critical remarks.
Methodology of teaching
Lectures and written communication. Students works performed independently and in group.

- Az aktuális irodalmi lista az első órán kerül ismertetésre.
- The actual literature list will be distributed in the first lesson.
General Rules
Assessment of the learning outcomes described under 2.2. is based on one written end-term test. The assessment includes the right solution of the lesson works.
