Objectives

The course is aimed to improve the language competence of students at C1 level, with a primary focus on improving verbal communication. The main goal is to help students expand their vocabulary, use more complex grammatical structures and improve their pronunciation and tempo of speech.

  1. • The students acquire the vocabulary required for discussing more general, global topics.
Skills
  1. • They are able to understand the gist of a problem, as well as arguments for and against various solutions from written or oral materials.
  2. • They are able to talk about more general technical problems, such as climate change or problems of energy supply.
  3. • They are able to express their opinion, argue their case and respond to the arguments of others, and make proposals in professional disputes.
  4. • They are able to present the solution for a given problem.
Attitude
  1. • They strive to improve their problem-solving skills and understand points of views that differ from theirs.
Independence and responsibility
  1. • The students take responsibility for improving their language competence, and acquire the strategies neces-sary for developing their language proficiency.

Teaching methodology

We use a lot of team work exercises, which provide ample opportunities for professional debates, problem solving and cooperation.

  • Aktuális célnyelvi anyagok: újságcikkek, videók, ezekre épülő feladatok. - Topical materials in the target language: newspaper articles, videos and tasks built on them.

General Rules

Teljesítési követelmény: órákon való aktív részvétel (megengedett hiányzás 30%), valamint a félév során kiadott feladatok és/vagy dolgozatok teljesítése.

Mivel a fő cél a szóbeli kommunikáció fejlesztése, ezért elsősorban az órán elvégzendő feladatok (vita, prezentáció) vagy beadandó szövegek.
