Objectives

This course is designed to introduce students to the science of translation including, in particular, written and spo-ken language mediation and the main theoretical models and history of terminology relevant to translation; teach them the key terms, processes, outcomes, functions of and the strategies to be used in practice in translation and interpretation; as well as to make them familiar with the basic research topics typically studied in these three areas.

  1. • Students are familiar with the key terms; research topics; main results of the science of translation.

  1. • They are able to connect the modern theory and practice of translation and interpretation and use this to define their own role as a translator/interpreter.
  2. • They are able to read, interpret the relevant available literature in foreign language.

  1. • They relate to the relevant scientific field in a critical manner and process the relevant literature using a critical approach.

  1. • Students are expected to autonomously control their own work and be responsible for their own learning processes.

Teaching methodology

Students predominantly work with learning materials through frontal methods (lectures) and interactive exercises (independent, pairwork and teamwork).

  • Tantermi és egyéb előadásokról felvett videók, az előadásokhoz kapcsolódó PPT-k, ellenőrző Moodle-tesztek, rele-váns tanulmányok.
  • Videos recorded in classrooms and of other presentations, PPTs relating to lectures, Moodle tests, relevant studies.
