Objectives
This course is mainly designed to consolidate the interpretation strategies based on competences learned in the previous three semesters and to develop the thematic vocabulary of students. Special emphasis is placed on devel-oping general background information, on detailed, precise note-taking techniques recording the speaker’s personal opinion as well, on understanding foreign and native accents and on preparation for non-real and real interpreting assignments.

Knowledge
- • Students are familiar with the basic and special vocabulary of topics covered during the semester;
- • they know skills and aspects relating to presentations;
- • they are aware of the monitoring criteria for the assessment of interpretation.
Skills
- • They are able to interpret moderately complex longer speeches in consecutive mode, taking notes, from a foreign language into Hungarian; to interpret a dialogue in liaison mode including multiple question and answer blocks with code switching, taking notes; to interpret a longer foreign language speech in simulta-neous mode into Hungarian;
- • they are able to actively use the strategies of simultaneous, consecutive and liaison interpretation previously learned;
- • they understand the message of the speech, are aware of the macro structure of the text and are able to communicate the personal opinion of the speaker;
- • they are able to assess their own interpreting performance and that of others based on varied criteria;
- • they are able to properly prepare for real and non-real interpreting assignments (writing glossaries, con-tacting clients, collecting presentations, drawing up lists of participants etc.).
Attitude
- • They are ready to constantly practise self-reflection; to analyse and assess their own interpreting and the interpretation process in a retrospective manner;
- • they are expected to deliver quality performance to meet the requirements of the interpretation industry;
- • they accept and abide by the ethical rules of the interpretation profession.
Independence and responsibility
- • They are expected to be responsible for their own learning processes.
Teaching methodology
Students are required to make presentations according to specific criteria on given topics both in their “A” and “A” language and interpret speeches delivered by other students and their instructor as well as speeches from the Speech Repository, SpeechPool and other sources (e.g. from guest lecturers). They also complete summarising and memory exercises into both language directions.

Az egyes fejlesztő értékelési módszerek előtérbe kerülnek.
