Objectives

The course is designed for students who wish to take a specialist language (credit) course at B2 level but need language development in some skills. The aim of the course is to strengthen students' language skills, to increase their con-fidence in using the foreign language and to lay the foundations for their professional or academic language use. To this end, emphasis will be placed on developing students' oral skills, expanding their vocabulary and systematising the grammatical structures necessary for communication at B2 level, taking into account the needs of the participants. The aim is to enable students to continue their studies in one of our specialist language (credit) courses at B2 level.

Academic results

Knowledge
  1. • The students already know the language and its structural elements, which are necessary for B2-level communication,
  2. • they are familiar with the typical linguistic tools and phrases, required for communicating with members of the target culture and necessary for expressing their opinions.
Skills
  1. • They understand the main line of thought and key pieces of information of more complex texts with specific or abstract topics (descriptions, reports, interviews, conversations),
  2. • they are able to take notes,
  3. • they are able to express their feelings and opinions on a given topic,
  4. • they are able to engage in communication about their professional interests and studies,
  5. • they have the basic strategies for collecting terminology in a specific subject field,
  6. • they apply the linguistic structures, corresponding to the above-mentioned level of language competence, in their written and verbal communication.
Attitude
  1. • The students are open to learn about the characteristics of the target language cultures,
  2. • they are open to get in touch and maintain contact with members of other cultures,
  3. • they are keen to fill in the gaps in their language competence.
Independence and responsibility
  1. • The students are aware of their strengths and weaknesses,
  2. • they have the necessary strategies for improving and maintaining their language competence even independently.

Teaching methodology

Alternating cooperation techniques, teamwork, working in pairs or independently, in writing or verbally, using IT tools and techniques, project tasks.

Materials supporting learning

  • A hallgatók szükségleteihez igazodó B2 szintű anyagok (írott szövegek, hanganyagok, videók). - B2-level materials (written and audio materials, videos) adjusted to the needs of the students.

General Rules

Teljesítési követelmény: órákon való aktív részvétel (megengedett hiányzás 30%), valamint a félév során kiadott fel-adatok és/vagy dolgozatok teljesítése.
