Objectives
The course aims to develop the comprehensive and listening skills of B2 level students based on TED talks and stu-dents’ needs. Special focus is laid on skills related to work and learning.

- The student knows the different types of English pronunciation and understands their differences.
- The student is familiar with the characteristics of up-to-date English (collocations, proverbs, catchphrases).

Teaching methodology
During the course, TED lectures are taken as a basis for language skills development taking into account students’ interests and needs and using a variety of teaching methods. As the course mainly focuses on the development of comprehensive and listening skills, students are given an opportunity to discuss various topics, with the help of co-operative techniques.

General Rules
Evaluation comprises of regular attendance, (30% of lessons can be skipped), active participation in lessons, and completing and submitting assignments and tests at a satisfactory level.

Topics covered during the term
In line with the students' needs and professional interests, the course is based on TED lectures. The main aim of the course is to develop language skills development (both for work and studies), which also determines the selection of TED-speeches.
